18-25 social groups

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are excited to have launched new social groups for young people aged 18-25 living across Maidstone, Ashford and Swale.

These new groups will meet informally four times a year and all activity costs will be fully covered. The sessions are a great way to meet new people, make friendships, try new things and reduce social isolation and anxiety. All the activities will be chosen by the group with an initial planning meeting to gather people’s ideas. Suggestions we have received so far include bowling, cinema trips and rock climbing.

Our Wellbeing Coach will be on hand to facilitate all of the sessions and provide any additional mental health signposting and support that is required.

Our next scheduled activities are:

Managing Me – a 5 week course exploring stress, anxiety and negative thinking. We will explore healthy coping strategies and proactive ways to manage and improve wellbeing.

The course covers:

  • Self awareness, self regulation and self reflection
  • Stress and anxiety and how we can use positive coping strategies to manage these feelings
  • Negative thinking and how we can challenge our thoughts
  • The 6 Ways To Wellbeing
  • Steps we can take to improve our wellbeing
  • Recognising and identifying our support networks
  • Other local support services

We will be running two courses:

  • 21st April – 19th May 5.50pm to 6.50pm, online
  • 23rd April – 21st May 11am to 12pm in Maidstone
