You are not alone

This Tuesday is World Suicide Prevention Day. We are encouraging everyone to mindfully take a minute and check in with yourself and your loved ones. 1 in 5 people experience suicidal thoughts and although 75% of people feel comfortable talking about their mental health, less than half feel able to talk about suicidal thoughts. (Samaritans)

Talking about suicide doesn’t increase the risk of someone taking their own life. For those experiencing suicidal ideation, it can be a relief to talk about it openly. Allowing someone to talk and listening to them without judgement can make a huge difference. If you want to feel more confident in having these conversations, our 2.5 hour Adult Suicide Prevention and Youth Mental Health and Suicide Awareness training courses are a great opportunity to learn this vital skill.

We know that young people don’t always feel comfortable confiding in an adult and sometimes prefer to share their feelings with their friends. Our one hour Look Out course – delivered to young people in schools – discusses the effects of poor mental health and what signs to be aware of in themselves and others. It also shares details of how and where to get further support locally.Get involved

Get involved

To coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day, we are launching a campaign to help us raise funds to support the delivery of new wellbeing groups. We know that these groups can achieve really positive outcomes for people:

  • 100% of attendees at our art group said they benefitted from the peer-to-peer support that the group sessions provided.
  • 100% of Menopause Mind and Movement attendees shared that the sessions positively impacted their mood.
  • Our wellbeing drop-in sessions prevented 166 instances of self-harm or suicide attempts.

We rely on donations to help facilitate our work so every contribution we receive through really will make a difference. To donate to this campaign please click here.
