Counselling placements

We offer students who are studying towards their Level 4 Diploma and above the chance to work face to face with our clients at our Wellbeing Centre in Maidstone. Our placements are an opportunity to gain your required hours whilst being part of the supportive team at Mid Kent Mind.


What criteria do I need to meet to apply?

  • Be enrolled on a counselling course and have already completed 140 group training hours, prior to starting your student counsellor placement.
  • Approaching or within your 2nd year of your studies
  • You are due to complete a total of at least 380 group training hours over the course of your studies
  • As part of your course, you are required to complete at least 100 hours in placement with us

What can you offer me?

  • Once you are in your 2nd year you will be offered clients that are suited to your strengths and abilities
  • Supervision dependent on availability
  • Our counselling service is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Tuesday evening until 8pm. Placements are offered in blocks of three or four clients at either 9 to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm or 5 to 8pm.
  • Friendly and dedicated Counselling Services Team for on hand support and Designated Safeguarding Lead onsite at all times.
  • Full induction & training before seeing clients and ongoing opportunities for CPD.
