Description

Introduction

The ½ Day MHFA is a course which provides a basic understanding, providing a nationally recognised level of Mental Health Awareness – although this course does not actually provide a certification. It is a good introduction to the content of the full two-day MHFA course.

You do not need to do this course first in order to do a two-day MHFA course – but a Half Day course does give you a good introduction to the course content which is present on the full two-day course.

Half Day MHFA (Youth Courses)

Our Youth Half Day MHFA courses have been funded by HeadStart Kent with the intention of providing free training opportunities for parents and carers living in Kent between 2021 and 2022.

An outline of the half-day Youth course can be found below. Please note that we require your postal address when making a booking so that we can post your course manual to you upon successful completion of one of our sessions.

This introductory MHFA session raises awareness of young people’s mental health. It covers:

  • Some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
  • Skills to work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
  • Ways to support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences

Our sessions are available free-of-charge thanks to HeadStart Kent. You can book a space on an available session by completing the booking form found on this page. If there are no dates available, then you can e-mail training@midkentmind.org.uk to be put on our waiting list.

  • A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
